Good afternoon, Cornwall-Lebanon Families,
As this calendar year comes to a close, we are grateful for the success we have had with the mitigation efforts within Cornwall-Lebanon schools amid continued high numbers of community COVID-19 cases in our county. These efforts rely on the cooperation of our families and we thank you for working with us. We have been able to offer fulltime in-person learning to eighty percent of our District’s elementary students for more than 17 weeks. At the same time, we successfully implemented the Blue/Gray Hybrid and K-8 Virtual learning options, which greatly lowers the number of students present in our largest buildings. While we celebrate this, we know that we must continue to be united in our mitigation efforts to slow community spread and keep this from getting into our schools.
We do plan to continue offering multiple learning options for families through the end of this school year. The new regulations from the PA Dept of Health and PA Dept of Education require an instructional shift to fully virtual learning if we reach a range of specific active positive cases in a school building. At the elementary level, the District is not looking to make any sudden shifts in learning options, but if we would need to make a shift quickly, it would be important for our elementary students to have a laptop to take and use at home. So, stay tuned for information about deployment of available laptops to our elementary students in early January.
During the holiday break, every child in the District age 18 and under is eligible and encouraged to pre-order free 5-day meals packages (5 breakfasts and 5 lunches) for the week of December 28-January 1. For more information and to pre-order, click on his link or on the District website under Lunch Menus before Friday, Dec. 25 at 3 PM, and pick up those meals on Tuesday, Dec. 29, during your selected time period.
We will resume school on January 4, 2021, with in-person instruction at our elementary schools, the Blue/Gray Hybrid option at the secondary level, as well as our K-8 Virtual and C3 learning options.
Wishing you and yours a blessed Christmas season and a Healthy New Year!
Philip Domencic, Superintendent
