Since March of 2020, the Cornwall-Lebanon School District Food Service Department has been allowed to operate under a number of federal waivers in order to provide children, students, and families with the greatest flexibility to obtain free, nutritional meals during the unprecedented circumstances caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. Recently, the District was notified that the federal government has not extended the Universal Free Meals waiver for the 2022-2023 school year. As a result, lunches at school are no longer universally free for all students.

CLSD student families that are unable to pay in full for student meals may be eligible for free or reduced-price meals, based on income level or government assistance, and are encouraged to apply online here. Families may choose instead to wait until the first day of school and complete a paper application for free or reduced-price meals that each child will receive.

Families applying for free or reduced-price meals should only complete one application, whether that is done online or through a paper submission. Families who are currently receiving SNAP, TANF or specific MA do not need to submit an application as they are Directly Certified for free meals by the state.

We encourage all families to visit our Food Service webpage for updates, school lunch menus, and information on checking or adding to your student’s Food Service account balance.
