Special Education Services
Welcome to the Cornwall-Lebanon School District Special Education Services site. This site will provide you with the information you need about our Special Education programs.
The Cornwall-Lebanon School District’s mission statement demonstrates the districts belief that all children can learn. It is not uncommon for students to require additional supportive services on the road to learning, growing, socializing and becoming contributing citizens in their community. Special Education Services are provided by Cornwall-Lebanon School District and through consortiums with other educational agencies, including the Lancaster-Lebanon Intermediate Unit 13. Cornwall-Lebanon School District works cooperatively with a variety of social agencies that augment our educational efforts. Eligible students may access a wide range of services.
Students in need of additional support are initially assisted through Intervention Specialists. Parents are encouraged to be active member of this team. Meetings are held regularly to analyze data, students’ learning difficulties and to develop strategies to help students become successful in their regular education classes.
Multidisciplinary Team Evaluations
This evaluation is gathers pertinent information on the child’s performance from teachers, counselors, learning facilitators, and parents. Information is compiled into a comprehensive evaluation report that includes recommendations on the child’s eligibility for Special Education Services. All information collected is protected in accordance with State and Federal law and by District’s policy on confidentiality of student records. In order to request a multidisciplinary team evaluation for a school aged child, a parent should contact their child’s teacher, guidance counselor, intervention specialist or principal. The initial involvement of the intervention team however, is recommended to be an important first step is assessing a student’s educational strengths and needs.
