    Planetarium Programs at Cedar Crest HIgh School

    Events at the Cedar Crest High School planetarium are free of charge, but reservations must be made in advance to ensure program availability. Donations to the Falcon Foundation are proudly accepted. Please contact Rich Fried at 717-272-2033 x5412 at least one day prior to the event you wish to attend. If Rich is unavailable to answer your call due to teaching duties, please leave a message and phone number at which you may be reached.

    Daytime Shows for Senior Citizens

    Constellations of the Fall & Winter Sky 

    Senior Citizens and their family members are invited to a free viewing of “Constellations of the Winter Sky,” at the Cedar Crest High School Planetarium. Take a tour of the current night sky and see its many constellations through the eyes of ancient astronomers. Listen to some of the stories told by people hundreds or thousands of years ago about the same stars we may look upon today.

     Evening Shows for all ages

    Constellations of the Fall & Winter Sky

    Take a tour of the winter night sky inside of the CCHS digital planetarium. In this family friendly event, instructor Rich Fried will lead a 45-minute program where he shares constellation stories about the brightest constellations in the winter sky. The program will conclude with an opportunity to ask questions or to observe other interesting objects in the current night sky.

     Holiday Breakfast Concert for CLSD Residents age 65 and older!

    CLSD is pleased to invite our senior residents, age 65 and older, to a holiday breakfast and choral concert in the Cedar Crest Middle School cafetorium, Thursday, Dec. 5, 2019. Breakfast will be served at 8:00 a.m., followed by a concert of holiday music. Doors will open at 7:30 a.m. You must have a ticket to be admitted. A person under the age of 65 may attend only if accompanying his or her spouse who meets the age requirement.

    Tickets may be obtained, by district residents only, at any CLSD school buildng office, or by downloading this Ticket Order Form. Bring the completed form to the rear of Cedar Crest Middle School, by the cafetorium entrance, on Wednesday, Nov. 20, beginning at 1:00 p.m. Tickets will be distributed on a first-come, first-served. A maximum of two tickets may be requested per form. Up to four forms may be redeemed per vehicle.

    Enter the Cedar Crest High School campus from either East Evergreen Road or State Drive and follow signs to the ticket pick-up area behind the middle school. You will not need to exit your vehicle. Please note that ticket distribution will conclude by 1:20 p.m., or when all 500 tickets have been distributed. Tickets may be available after the Nov. 20th distribution date; please inquire at the District office, 105 E. Evergreen Rd., (717) 272-2031.             


    Do you have your CLSD Gold Card?

    If you are 65 years of age or older and a resident of the district, you are eligible for a CLSD Gold Card designed especially for our senior citizens! This card entitles you to one admission (for yourself, only) to all District-sponsored activities free of charge, including home sporting events, concerts and plays. Gold Card members with current addresses on file also receive a printed copy of the CLSD Calendar of Events each year in August. If you already have a Gold Card but have moved since the time you registered for it, please stop by the district office at 105 E. Evergreen Rd. to update your information.

    CLSD Gold Cards are non-transferable. To pick up your CLSD Gold Card, stop in to the district office between 7:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m., weekdays, by showing proof of age and district residency. They also may be available in the lobby prior to special CLSD Gold Card events. Note: Reservations still are required for tickets to reserved seating events.
