Alexa Henderson stands with her SOY plaque

Congratulations to Alexa Henderson—the 2024–2025 Cornwall Student of the Year. Alexa is the daughter of Joel and Elizabeth Henderson.

In presenting Alexa to the CLSD Board of School Directors earlier this spring, Principal Artz said, "Alexa is a true example of what it means to be a model student. Academically, she shines brightly, having earned advanced scores in the PSSA for Math, Science, and English Language Arts. This level of excellence in all three core subjects is a rare accomplishment and a clear reflection of her hard work, intelligence, and dedication to learning.

"But Alexa’s impact goes far beyond her academics. She is a valued member of our SOAR student leadership team, where she plays an active role in planning our SOAR assemblies and SOAR days. Her leadership, kindness, and commitment to putting others first make her a student others look up to. She exemplifies what it means to be Student of the Year—hard-working, kind, unwavering in her values, and always willing to go the extra mile.

"Teachers across the school appreciate Alexa’s constant smile, her positive attitude, and her willingness to help wherever and whenever needed. Whether it’s assisting a classmate, taking the lead on a project, or quietly lending a helping hand, Alexa consistently demonstrates maturity and compassion beyond her years.

"She is also a talented member of our school chorus, adding her voice to our community in more ways than one.

"Outside of school, Alexa’s interests and talents are just as inspiring. She enjoys practicing archery, hunting, fishing, swimming, baking cakes, playing with her three dogs, and exploring nature. She’s always eager to learn—whether it's cooking, preserving food, or trying something new—and she brings the same enthusiasm and determination to everything she does.

"Alexa, you are a shining example of excellence, leadership, and heart. It is truly a privilege and an honor to present you with the 2024–2025 Cornwall Student of the Year Award. Congratulations!"
