Congratulations to Benny Root, a fifth-grade student at Union Canal Elementary School, whose artwork was selected for the 2026 Drug-Free Calendar Contest, sponsored by the Pennsylvania Office of Attorney General. The annual calendar contest promotes National Drug Prevention Month. Benny’s artwork (pictured) is the featured calendar entry for February.
Benny and the other winning artists were honored at a luncheon at the Capitol in January. He and his family met with Pennsylvania Attorney General Dave Sunday and also Rep. John Schlegel.
Benny will be honored at an upcoming meeting the of the CLSD Board of School Directors.
