Congratulations to Adam Calderon! In the fall, the middle school Esports team participated in an online tournament for Super Smash Bros. Through PlayVS (playvs.com), members of the team competed in a singles tournament against other middle schools in the eastern region of the United States.
Calderon, an 8th grade student, was runner-up placing 2nd in the region. Head Esports coach Isaiah Reid said, "We are excited to be able to hang this award and are hoping to earn more to put alongside it.
"Adam puts a lot of time into improving Super Smash Bros. He continues to look to improve through in-person and online tournaments. He has been a part of the program for two years and is currently a captain on the team. He shows great leadership qualities and a passion for the game.
"Adam and the other captains put in a lot of time and effort to make sure that the program is running smoothly and to find opportunities to play. With Adam's continued growth, we look forward to continuing to compete at the highest level."
