Dear Cornwall-Lebanon Families,

I hope this letter finds you well. It is hard to believe that we have already reached the halfway point of the winter. I am writing to let you know about some important updates regarding future inclement weather procedures.

The Cornwall-Lebanon School District is committed to providing in-person instruction for our students; however, we recognize that there will be years when winter weather conditions require us to be creative with our make-up days. Because the Pennsylvania Department of Education has approved the District’s use of Flexible Instructional Days (FIDs) for situations like these, our next school closure due to weather will be a FID or virtual learning day.

In the near future, each building principal will be sharing information with their students, families, and staff regarding a potential FID. Our goal will be to notify families and staff as early as possible about the use of a FID based on unfavorable weather forecasts. We know that snow days can create challenging situations for families. We encourage you to reach out to your child’s teacher(s) and building principal if the Flexible Instructional Day (FID) causes difficult circumstances for your family.

We will continue to prioritize in-person instruction by building snow days into our future school year calendars, and we will utilize FIDs as necessary when we have used all of the built-in snow days.

We appreciate your cooperation and flexibility as we continue to serve your children and our community.

Sincerely,

Phil
