Congratulations to Claire Fugate, daughter of Drs. Tyler and Angelique Fugate, who has been named Cedar Crest Middle School Student of the Year for 2023-2024.

Principal Joe Burton presented Claire at the February 12 meeting of the CLSD Board of School Directors. CCMS students and teachers participate in the nomination and selection process in this annual distinguished honor for an eighth grade student. School Board President Ruth Ann Schlegel congratulated Claire and presented her with a plaque.

“As a young lady, Claire has demonstrated pride in herself and her family,” said Mr. Burton, “as well as humility and confidence to treat other with kindness, serve her school and do what is right.”

A number of Claire’s teachers and support staff attended the meeting to honor Claire. Mr. Burton shared some of the many comments submitted during the process that praised Claire for serving as a positive, kind role model in school. Claire is described as being a very responsible young lady who takes charge and volunteers to assist others.

“She is a great asset to CCMS and truly exemplifies the core values of our school,” Burton shared.“Her leadership, continuous positive attitude, excellent academic record, intensive community involvement both in and outside of school make her an excellent representative for Student of the Year,” he said.
